His brother 4523 Private Marcus Dill Reid, also served with the13th Battalion AIF; he was killed in action on 13 July 1917 in Belgium, aged 21 years.

Another brother, 3654 Private William Smith Reid 1st Pioneer Battalion AIF, was returned to Australia in late 1917.
