Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
William Laugher was the son of Alfred and Sarah Laugher of Collinsvale, Hobart, Tasmania. His mother stated on his roll of honour form “He enlisted in Aug 1914 and served nearly four years before being run over with a mortar from which injuries he died from.”
William was going into Peronne on the road when he was struck by a horse team pulling a heavy mortar. He died from his injuries shortly after.
His brother, 786 Pte. James Edgar Laugher 16th Battalion AIF had been killed in action at Gallipoli on 2 May 1915.
