Son of John O'Brien and Mary Ann O'Brien nee Johnston of Beatty Street, West End, South Brisbane, QLD.
Brother of John Daniel who was killed in action on 27 September 1917 while serving with the 31st Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on Menin Gate, Ypres, Panel 23.
Commenced return to Australia on 17 March 1919 aboard HT Plassy disembarking 30 April 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Brisbane
