Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Frank Gordon Ross was reported to have joined the Australian Army in 1911, previous to which time he followed the business of printing in Orange and Bathurst.
He enlisted as a Corporal and rose to the rank of Lieutenant at the time of his death. He served at the landing on Gallipoli and was promoted to Battery Sergeant Major of the 1st Battery of the 1st Field Artillery Brigade, during August 1915. He was mortally wounded in France on the 4 November 1916 and died of gas gangrene and sepsis in the 2nd Red Cross Hospital at Rouen two days later.
His father George and three brothers, Lyn, Ken and Alan, all enlisted in the AIF and served overseas, with two of them being wounded.
