Death Notice The Argus 4 Oct 1915 and The Australasian 9 Oct 1915: Drowned on Active Service, Corporal C E Gunn, beloved fiancée of Edith Nisbet, 14 Chatsworth Rd, East Prahran

BALLARAT AND DISTRICT MEN
CORPORAL C. E. GUNN
Mrs Gunn, of Sebastopol, whose son, Corp C. E. Gunn. was first reported missing, believed to be drowned, and then officially reported drowned, has received the following letter from Capt -, at Lemnos. under date 4th September:--"I have a most unpleasant task to perform in writing to you of the death of Corp C. E. Gunn, of our (21st) battalion. His death was the result of an explosion, and he must have been killed instantly. I knew him and  his brother, Jerry, in the old football days of Christ Church and Rubicon street, and I could not refrain from sending a few lines for the sake of old  times. Your son had a magnificent character in the battalion, and his quiet ways; soon won him friends. Your boy died at his post in a brave and  dearless manner, and as a true son of Australia. He is buried in Mundros East Cemetery, on the the Island of Lemnos.

GUNN.—A tribute to the memory of my beloved fiance, Corporal Chas. Edward Gunn, killed on torpedoed "Southland," 2nd September, 1915.
So dearly loved; so sadly missed.
(E. Nisbet.)

GUNN.—In loving memory of Corporal C. E. Gunn (Eddie), killed on the Southland, 2nd September, 1915.
He died that we might live.
