Son of Thomas Charles Osborne and Alice Sarah Osborne of Francis Street, Richmond, NSW later of Watson's Bay, NSW.
Brother of Frederick Thomas Osborne who returned to Australia on 27 February 1919 having served with the 5th Field Artillery Brigade.
Commenced return to Australia on 13 January 1919 aboard HT Berrima disembarking on 17 February 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
