Son of Marshell and Mary Louisa Lennox of Colac Road, Belmont, Geelong; brother of Harold Marshall Lennox who was killed in action on the 2 November 1916 while serving in the 29 Battalion; brother of Myrtle Vera McHugh nee Lennox
Robert also served for 10 months with the Royal Australian Artilllery Garrison, Geelong
Red Cross files comment: - Informant (Private Dyall) states that on July 19th at Levantie he saw Lennox shot dead in the German trench, which they reached but did not hold
24 August 1920 - Base Records received a letter from his mother stating that she did not know where Robert's father was living as she had no contact with him for over 16 years and that Robert's father had not contributed much to the support of the children
