Captain Frank Wadge, MC and Bar, MID x2, and French Croix de Guerre
Upon enlistment Frank registered his mother, Mrs Kate Maidment of Bath, England as NOK then later his wife, H. E. G. Wadge of Norwich, England, after he married her in England during 1917.
Frank served in Egypt 1916, France 1916-1919 and was wounded in the thigh at Mouquet Farm, France on 31 August 1916. He requested and was granted a discharge in England on compassionate grounds to support his family because his two brothers were killed in action and a third, also a soldier, had lost all use of a hand.
His brothers Lt. Herbert Wadge, 4th Pioneer Battalion AIF was killed in action, 20 November 1916, age 32. Lt. Ernest Wadge, Canadian Light Horse was killed in action 10 November 1917, age 27.
