Name on nominal roll and cemetery are spelt Walter Cecil Vandenbergh.
Son of Charles Vandenbergh and (Minnie) Rebecca Vandenbergh of Arthur Street, North Sydney, NSW. Brother of Charles Stanley Vandenbergh who returned to Australia on 27 May 1919 having served with the 14th Battalion.
Commenced return to Australia on the 27 August 1917 aboard HTNZ Pakeda disembarking on 25 October 1917
