Son of Daniel O'Keefe and Margaret O'Keefe nee O'/brien of Bungaree, Ballarat, Victoria.
Brother of James Matthew O'Keefe who returned to Australia on 6 August 1919 having served with the 5th Pioneer Battalion; Daniel O'Keefe who returned to Australia on 7 June 1917 having served with the 19th Battalion; John O'Keefe who returned to Australia on 14 May 1919 having served with the 1st Pioneer Battalion; Peter Timothy O'Keefe who returned to Australia on 21 March 1918 having served with the 1st Pioneer Battalion
