Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Theodore Gurney was the youngest of three brothers who died during WW1. His older brother 3847 Pte. Alfred Owen Gurney 18th Battalion AIF had been killed in action on 25 February 1917, aged 22. Another older brother, 2409 Pte. Herbert Gurney 56th Battalion AIF, was killed in action in Belgium on the 26 September 1917, aged 24. Neither of his two brothers had a known grave.

Theodore was first admitted to a Field Ambulance on 27 August 1918 with dermatitis. He went through various hospitals before developing bronchitis and pneumonia on 12 October 1918. His condition deteriorated and he passed away six days later.

They were the sons of William and Louisa Gurney (nee Hudson), of Rosewood, Reid's Flat, New South Wales.
