Corporal Rogers served at Gallipoli where he was promoted to Sergeant and twice wounded in action. In January 1916 he was promoted to Sergeant Major and in May 1916, in Egypt, to Warrant Officer. He was promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant only a fortnight before he was wounded in action at Pozieres, France, on 7 August 1916. His gunshot wounds to the thigh and forearms must have been severe and he died of his wounds 10 days later, in a hospital at Etaples. He was 24 years of age.
His younger brother 4669 Private Harold Eldridge Rogers was killed in action at Pozieres between 22 and 25 July 1916, aged 20.
