His parents were Arthur William and Emily Pratt, 18 Argyle Roazd, Teddington, Middlesex, England. He came out to Australia in about 1911. 

He was severely wounded during the battle of Lagnicourt on 15 April 1917. 'Gunshot wounds to both legs, left arm and back.' Although treated in a General Hospital in Boulogne he died 12 days after on 27 April 1917.
