Son of Walter Ernest Albert Shimmins and Susan Beatrice May Shimmins nee Wise of 321 Park Street, New Town, Tasmania. Brother of Cecil Shimmins, Mabel Maud Shimmins, Eric Victor Shimmins, Ethel Lillian Shimmins and Walter Ernest Shimmins
Commenced return to Australia on 1 July 1919 aboard HT Karmala disembarking on 16 August 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Tasmania
