The current issue of the Maryborough Presbyterian "Monthly Record," writes:-"The events in Turkey are bringing home to us in some measure the terrible effects of war. We all sympathise deeply with our old friend, Mrs Strachan, whose nephew, Mr A. E Rogers, a fine fellow of 30, fell at the very commencement of the operations in the Dardanelles. The young soldier's brother will be rermembered as one of our former elders, Mr. J. Rogers, of Kew. Mrs Strachan was peculiarly attached to this member of her family having looked after him from youth; he was her faivourite nephew. We are deeply sorry for this blow that has fallen on our friend in the evening time of her life, and have conveyed sympathy to Mr Rogers' bereaved mother and family."
