Jack was born in Toowoomba QLD in 1912, the second of four children of Thomas Henry Sharpe (b1871 in Warwickshire, England) and Elizabeth Drennan (b1877 in Warwickshire, England). Thomas (an Auctioneer's Clerk) and Elizabeth (a Shorthand Typist) were in Stafforshire, England in 1905 when they married. They emigrated shortly after their marriage and lived in Toowoomba QLD where Thomas was an Accountant. In 1921, following the death of their youngest daughter, Thomas and Elizabeth returned to Birmingham, England with their three surviving children. Thomas died in England in 1927 and Elizabeth and daughter Eileen (a Nurse) and Philip (a Student Draftsman) remained in Birmingham until 1949.
Jack returned to Sydney NSW in 1916 and settled in Old Bonalbo NSW where he worked as a Farm Hand. In 1940 he married Muriel Hamilton Mills (b1919 in Casino, NSW) and in April 1942 enlisted in the Australian Army (Driver; Service No:NX94281). Jack was attached to 149 General Transport Coy when he Discharged in November 1945.
After a few years back in Old Bonalbo where Jack was a Farmer, he and Muriel relocated to Kyogle NSW in the early 1950's where Jack was a Bus Proprietor. By 1958 Jack and Muriel had moved to Brisbane QLD and Jack worked as a Motor Mechanic. Jack died in 1989 and Muriel in 2011.
