War Service/Promotions: From 15 October 1915 to 26 March 1916 was a Private in Reserve Company. Then 27 March 1916 in the 15th Battalion, 16th Reinforcements. Embarked for Egypt 31 March 1916. Transferred to 47th Battalion on 20 May 1916. Allotted from the 15th Battalion on 24 May 1916. Joined Battalion from Reinforcements, 25 August 1916, France. Went through the Battle of Mouquet Farm. Awarded 2 Blue Chevrons, 31 March 1917. Wounded in action, 11 April 1917, Bullecourt, France. On 16 April 1917 embarked on HT St. Dennis, at Boulogne, France, for England. Admitted High Beach Hospital, Westgate-on-Sea, Kent, England, 16 April 1917. Proceeded overseas to France on 2 March 1918, via Southampton, Hampshire, England. Rejoined Battalion 8 March 1918. He was fighting in Dernacourt, France, on 5 April 1918. Transferred to 48th Battalion AIF from 47th Battalion, on 28 May 1918, and Taken on Strength in that battalion on the same day. Wounded in action (2nd occurrence), 18 September 1918, in the first attack on the Hindenburg Line, France, in which there were over 1,000 dead or wounded allied servicemen. Admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, France on 20 September 1918. Transferred to England and admitted to Whipps Cross Hospital, Whipps Cross, Waltham Forest, London, on 22 November 1918. Admitted 1st A.D. Hospital, Bulford, Wiltshire, England, 14 February 1919, with an infection, and discharged 18 March 1919, but readmitted the same day. Discharged to No 2 Group, Sutton Veny, Wiltshire, England, 14 July 1919. Departed Liverpool, England, to return to Australia 2 August 1919.
Fate: Returned to Australia per HT Argylshire, 2 August 1919, disembarking 22 September 1919. He never married.
