18/9/1914 Enlisted shortly after the outbreak of the First World War at Morphettville
21/9/1914 completed medical - fit for service
19/12/1914 Broadmeadows Camp
22/12/1914 embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT Ceramic A40
with the H Company, 16th Infantry
2/1915 disembarked into Egypt
12/4/1915 Proceeded to join Mediterranean Expeditionary Forces, Gallipoli Peninsula
25/4/1915 As part of the 4th Brigade, the 16th Battalion landed at ANZAC Cove late
in the afternoon.
2/5/1915 Private John O’Leary was killed in action
during the assault on “Bloody Angle”.
