War Service/Promotions:   He was hospitalised with an injured eye, 3 May 1918, and then again on 19 May 1918 with influenza, both times whilst at sea on the way to Suez, Egypt, where he disembarked 7 June 1918 and went into the Australian Camp. He was transferred to Alexandria, Egypt, on 3 July 1918, and from there he went to Southampton, England, disembarking 16 July 1918. On the 27 October 1918, he proceeded to Rouelles, France. On 23 November 1918 he was appointed a Driver. In April 1919 he went to Brussels, Belgium, on leave; on 10 May 1919 he was re-mustered as a Gunner. By 20 May 1919 he was returned to Southampton, England from LeHavre, France, to await his return to Australia.

Fate:   Returned to Australia per HMAT City of Exeter, 12 July 1919, disembarking in Sydney on

26 August 1919, and discharged on 10 September 1919. He married Doris Decima Mackenzie,

23 April 1927, St John's Church, Terara, NSW.
