William Richard Norton SKILTON was born in Manchester, England in 1887 although he stated on his enlistment that he was born in Williamstown which is incorrect

His parents were William Nicholas Kneebone SKILTON & Kezia DUNN

He enlisted in Melbourne on 22nd October, 1914 and embarked from Melbourne on 22nd December, 1914 on the HMAT Ulysses with the 14th Infantry Battalion, A Company

William was Killed in Action at Gallipoli on 21st August, 1915

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Lone Pine Memorial
