Son of John Veal and Marie Elizabeth Veale nee Hoffritcher of Newcastle Street, West Perth, WA formerly of Kalgoorlie, WA and Broken Hill, NSW. Brother of John Charles Veal who returned to Australia in March 1919 having served with the 43rd Battalion.
Commenced return to Australia on 18 October 1917 aboard HT Beltana disembarking on 10 December 1917 at Melbourne for onward travel to Adelaide
Medals: 1914-1915 Star. British War Medal, Victory Medal
On 8 February 1919 Sydney married Linda Elsie May Donley in the Congregational Church, College Park, SA
At the time of his death Sydney was residing in Mile End, SA.
