Died at sea from bullet wound in right lung received at Gallipoli 30 April 1915.

Four Brothers also died, all sons of Thomas and Harriet Shaw of London, England.

G/9633 Lance Corporal Henry James Shaw 11th Battalion Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) killed in action 15 September 1916 age 29. Son of Thomas and Harriet Shaw; husband of Beatrice Kate Shaw, of 6, Beverley Rd., Chiswick, London. THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. According to local British newspapers Henry returned to England to enlist. 

Lieutenant Edward John Shaw 20th Bn AIF, killed in action 3rd May, 1917. Age 28. Villers Bretonneux Memorial France. 

R/33655 Rifleman Thomas Samuel Shaw 8th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps killed in action 3 May 1917 age 35. Husband of Susie Lilian Shaw, of 67, Abbeyfield Rd., Rotherhithe, London. ARRAS MEMORIAL. 

633502 Private James Friend C Company 20th Battalion London Regiment killed in action 31 August 1917 age 20. Son of Thomas Shaw, of 20, Brindley St., Shardeloes Rd., New Cross, London. MENDINGHEM MILITARY CEMETERY V. A. 4. The inscription on his CWGC headstone, as requested by his father, reads "IN LOVING MEMORY / OF JIM & HIS FOUR BROTHERS / KILLED IN ACTION / UNITED IN DEATH".
