Great Sydney Central Station Honour Board

Thomas GOLDEN (Service Number 1433) was born at Murrumburrah in 1891. He joined the NSWGR as a cleaner (first step on the career path to engine driver) at the Harden locomotive depot in 1911, and in 1912 was promoted to fireman. In June 1914 he was transferred to Hamilton depot. In November 1914, stating his ‘trade or calling’ as ‘locomotive engine driver’, he enlisted in the AIF at Liverpool. He left Australia through Melbourne aboard HMAT ‘Berrima’ on 22 December 1914, allotted to the 13th Battalion.

He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 1 May 1915.
He has no known grave but is remembered with honour on the Lone Pine Memorial.

Son of John and Alice GOLDEN, North Street, Murrumburrah, New South Wales

PRIVATE T. GOLDEN.
Private T. Golden (wounded) is 23 years of age and is a native of Nubba. He was in the employ of the Railway Department as a driver, and at the time of enlisting was on the railway at Werris Creek. He is a keen athlete and identified himself with the sport of his district.

Thomas GOLDEN (Service Number 1433) was born at Murrumburrah in 1891.  He joined the NSW Government Railways as a cleaner (first step on the career path to engine driver) at the Harden locomotive depot in 1911. In 1912 he was promoted to fireman.  In June 1914 he was transferred to Hamilton depot.  In November 1914, he enlisted in the AIF at Liverpool. He left Australia from Melbourne aboard HMAT ‘Berrima’ on 22nd December 1914. He was allotted to the 13th Battalion.
