Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Word was received here yesterday to the effect that Pte. Eddy B. Stevens, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Stevens, Raglan Parade, had been killed in action at the Dardanelles on the 28th September.  He was only 22 years of age, was a splendid rifle shot, and was employed as a sniper.  He studied at the local Agricultural High Shcool, and, having finished his course in that institution, went on the land in New South Wales, where he enlisted. He left for the front in December last year, and landed at Gallipoli on May 18th.  He was therefore 4 1/2 months in the trenches.  Deceasedw was well-known and highly esteemed, and was a member of Mr. Wm. Swinton's Bible Class at the local Presbyterian Church.
