Son of William Urquhart and Mary A. Urquhart of Harris Street, Pyrmont, NSW.
Brother of Albert Urquhart whose was killed in action on 30 April 1917 and was buried in the Vraucourt Corpse Cemetery, Plot 11, Row B, Grave 9; Edward Urquhart who died of pneumonia on 4 January 1917 and is buried in the Tidworth Military Cemetery, Row C, Grave 243; Leslie Ernest Urquhart who returned to Australia on 11 February 1919 having served with the 17th Battalion and Norman Urquhart who returned to Australia on 14 May 1916 having served with the 13th Battalion
