He was 35 and the son of Thomas and Emma Hunt; husband of Edith Lily Hunt, of Leicester Cottage, Edenlea St., Epping, New South Wales.

Died on this date - 13th August......Arthur Hunt was born in London, England in 1883. Arthur came to Australia when he was 28 years old (according to information supplied by his widow & he also had been a Corporal in the Boer War & had earned the Queens Medal & 3 Bars.)

Arthur Hunt enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force on 15th June, 1915 as a 32 year old, married, Jeweller from Coburg, Victoria. He embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on 29th September, 1915 with the 7th Infantry Battalion, 10th Reinforcements.

Private Hunt was promoted to Sergeant on 4th March, 1916 & arrived in France on 29th June, 1916.

Sergeant Hunt was wounded in action in France on 19th July, 1916 & invalided to England where he was admitted to 5th Northern General Hospital at Leicester, England on 3rd August, 1916 with GSW wounds (severe) to right knee.

Sergeant Arthur Hunt died on 13th August, 1916 at Northern General Hospital at Leicester, England from wounds received in action in France – amputation of right leg. He was buried in Welford Road Cemetery, Leicester, Leicestershire, England where 7 other WW1 Australians are buried. He does not have a headstone but is remembered on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Screen Wall in the Cemetery.
