Son of James William Cooper and Elizaeth Ellen Cooper of Lennox Street, Richmond, Victoria. Brother of George Cooper who was killed in action on 30 July 1916 while serving with the 21st Battalion and has no know grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial
