OUR HEROES

THE BROTHER'S GRAFE.

Private H. C. M. Grafe, No. 2918, was killed in action on April 25, 1917. He   went away with the 17th reinforcements of the 50th Battalion, in November, 1916, and arrived in France in May, 1917, to pass his 22nd birthday in the trenches.   He was reported wounded and also had an attack of trench fever.

Private J. W. Grafe, No. 3182, left Australia with the 8th reinforcements of the 10th Battalion in August, 1915. He went to Egypt, and was caught in a snow storm in Lemnos which brought on tuberculosis. He was invalided home in May, 1916, was discharged in November, 1916, but never   recovered from the effect of the illness, and passed away in December, 1917. Both were employed in the South Australian Railways, Works and Buildings Department, and were much respected. These are the only sons of Mr. L. A. Grafe, who is employed in the South Australian Railways, and resides at 15 Young avenue, New Hindmarsh.
