Biography contributed by John Edwards

"2625 Private Ronald John (Roy) Ramsay, then with the 4th Light Horse Field Ambulance, in Egypt wearing a sheep skin jacket. Pte Ramsay later joined the 1st Division 3rd Field Ambulance after the break up of his initial unit. Whilst recovering from paratyphoid he learnt that his unit was being shipped to France. Desperate to get to Europe to see his Scottish homeland, Pte Ramsay with the help of his mates, was smuggled aboard ship. The story goes that during the voyage one sleeping man rolled offboard, and Ramsay, the unofficial addition, subsequenty took his place in the unit. QX33607 Lieutenant R Ramsay served for four years as a Lieutenant with the 112 B M Hospital during the Second World War." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
