Sadly on Christmas Day I have 4 Soldiers that I have researched so far that died on this day & are buried in the UK . This is one of their stories.....

Died on this date - 25th December.......Gunner Colin Clive Willcock was born at Albrighton, Salop, England around 1880 . He arrived at Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 19th August, 1912.

Colin Clive Willcock joined the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 24th April, 1917 as a 37 year old, single, Farmer from Glengarry, West Tamar, Tasmania. He embarked from Melbourne on 26th November, 1917 & disembarked at Suez then eventually landed in England at R.B.A.A. (Reserve Brigade Australian Artillery) at Heytesbury, Wiltshire on 15th February, 1918.

Gunner Willcock joined his Unit in France on 30th July, 198. He was wounded in action - gassed on 29th September, 1918 but remained at duty.

Gunner Willcock was sent to hospital on 21st November, 1918 with appendicitis then transferred to Hospital Ship for England on 12th December, 1918 with an appendicial abscess - severe. He was admitted to Essex County Hospital at Colchester on 12th December, 1918 but sadly died at 10.45 on 25th December, 1918. He was buried in Colchester Cemetery, Colchester, Essex, England where 10 other WW1 Australians are buried.
