28 Mar 1917: Wounded AIF WW1, Flying Officer, No. 1 Squadron, Australian Flying Corps, Egypt and Palestine - Light Horse and AFC Operations, GSW to right leg. Evacuated to hospital (Cairo) and then several months leave to Australia. Rejoined unit January 1918.
1 May 1918: Imprisoned Egypt and Palestine - Light Horse and AFC Operations, Captured in the Amman area after his plane was forced down by enemy action. Repatriated from Turkey 6 November 1918.
13 Jan 1919: Discharged AIF WW1, Captain, No. 1 Squadron, Australian Flying Corps, RTA 15 November 1918 and appointment terminated.
