18 Apr 1918: | Honoured Military Cross, Consistant devotion to duty. During mining operations he displayed marked ability in the attack on Hill 70, near Loos, on 15th April 1917, where he was officer in charge of the investigation party which immediately followed the advance and inspected all dugouts for traps, etc. His organisation and fearlessness encouraged the men to such a degree that under the heaviest fire the work was not delayed. Originally MID but later upgraded to MC. 18 April 1918 on page 847 at position 117 |
