Son of William Henry Valentine and Constance Valentine nee Ransom of Rupert Street, Launceston, Tasmania.
Brother of Cyril Hugh Valentine who returned to Australia on 12 June 1919 having served with the 40th Battalion; Herbert Maurice Valentine who returned to Australia on 9 October 1918 having served with the 34th Battalion
Commenced return to Australia on 1 May 1919 aboard HT China disembarking on 8 June 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Hobart.
