Cecil Coates Morley enlisted on the same day as his brother, John Herbert 'Jack' Morley and they were given consecutive regimental numbers as members of the 47th Battalion.
2922 Private John Herbert Morley 47th Battalion was killed in action at Dernancourt on 28 March 1918. Cecil was badly wounded at the same place a few days later. He was evacuated to England with shrapnel wounds to his shoulder and face. He was returned to Australia and discharged medically unfit in July 1919.
Cecil Morley died at his parents home in New Farm, Brisbane, Queensland in November 1925, at only 33 years of age.
