May have lowered his aged at enlistment. Attestation paper gives his age as 39 years 6 months. Find A Grave shows his date of birth as 7 September 1883, NZBMD gives the year as 1883
Son of John O'Connor and Sarah Jane O'Connor nee Menagh of Auckland, NZ.
Brother of Hugh O'Connor who was killed in action on 29 August 1918 while serving with the N.Z.E.F. and is buried in the Bancourt British Cemetery. Plot 11, Row E, Grave 8
Next of kin originally given as a friend Mrs O'Meara of Victoria Street, North Melbourne, later changed to his brother Hugh O'Connor of Ellerslie, NZ who was later killed in action.
