Son of Richard James O'Kane and Esther O'Kane of Alexandria, Sydney, NSW

Husband of Violet Irene O'Kane nee King of Parkwood, Kent, England. James and Violet married on 2 February 1918 in St. Mary's Church, Greenhithe, Kent, England. Rector Elliott Mitchell officiated. 

Date of return to Australia is unclear but is know to  have been living in Parramatta, NSW in 1933

Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal.

During 1936c James married Elizabeth May Thomas in Granville, NSW
