Biography contributed by Nadine Greening

Alfred Scharf was the 5th of 10 children. His parents emigrated from Germany to escape militarism in 1883. The Scharf siblings grew up very close, especially after their mothers tragic passing in 1896.

Alfred was known as a keen Aussie Rules football player and was a member of the Yannathan Football Club, Premiers of Lang Lang District in 1908.

Alfred followed in his father's and brothers footsteps to become a Carpenter.

Alfred was dearly missed by his siblings following his death in 1916 in France.
