Biography

"PRIVATE OSCAR KRUMMEL.

Private Oscar Krummel, whose name is among the missing, is a son of Mr. W. F. krummel, blackAmith and coach builder, of Eudunda. He was one of the many Australian-Germans who were prepared to lay down their lives for King and country. "Socky,'"' as he was popularly known, is one of the best footballers the town has produced, and was playing with the senior team from his 16th year. He was employed by his father as a coachpainter. He was one of the first Eudunda men to enlist, and together with Private A. Cranstron (whose biography has been given), he left with hardly anyone knowing his intention to enlist in the second contingent. He is a finely-built athletic young man, and hopes are entertained of his return after the war." - from the Adelaide Advertiser 17 Jun 1915 (nla.gov.au)
