Fred was born in Birchip, Victoria in 1897, second of seven children of William Clover (b1859 at Indented Head, Victoria) and Margaret Anne Ah King (b1876 in Landsborough, Victoria). William was a Farmer in Salbert, Swan Hill, Victoria in 1894 when he and Margaret married in Birchip, where they settled and raised their family and William was a Farmer. By 1909 the family had moved to Ouyen, where William was a Farmer.
