30th Battalion, Australian Infantry, A.I.F. - Service No. 1986

Leopold was the third son of the late Alfred Briscoe and Jane (nee Rostron) Brooker Briscoe Davoren. A shop assistant prior to enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force on 26 September 1914 (Service #119 13th Battalion, 'B' Company), he embarked from Melbourne, Victoria for overseas aboard HMAT "Ulysses" (A38) on 22 December 1914. He was discharged 4th March 1915, Medical Board found him permanently unfit for war service. He re-enlisted on 20 September 1915, Service #1986 30th Battalion, 3rd Reinforcement; embarked from Sydney on board HMAT "Ballarat" (A70) on 16 February 1916. He was killed in action at the Battle of Fromelles, aged 22 years.
