Son of Frederick Augustus Hooke and Sibylla Jane Hooke of 'Dingdee' Dungog, NSW

Brother of Alfred Augustus Hooke returned to Australia on 25 November 1917 having served with the 1st Field Artillery Brigade, and James Hooke MM returned to Australia on 13 January 1918 having served with the 1st Field Artillery Brigade.

Granted unpaid leave between 17 April 1919 until 16 October June 1919 to study cattle raising and mixed farming and was to return to Australia at his own expense

Returned to Australia on 30 September 1919 aboard SS Sonoma at his expense
