Biography contributed

Only son of Robert John Donnolly and Alexina Nevin Donnolly, of "Balfron", 16, First Avenue, Mount Lawley, Western Australia.

After an association on nine years of Engineers' Branch of W.A. Railways he enlisted on the 17th August 1914, and was attached to 8th Battery, 3rd Australian Artillery Brigade.  His previous experience in the arm of the service resulted in promotion to rank of sergeant.  He left W.A. with the Australian Expeditionary Forece on 2nd November 1914.  In Egypt, April 1915, he was transferred and appointed lieutenant in 1st 18th Battery inf 1st 3rd East Lancs Brigade Royal Field Artillery, with which he saw service on Gallipoli, and he was temporarily put out of action at both Gallipoli and Suez.   After the withdrawal from the Peninsula he proceeded to France and was attached to the 97th Battery Royal Field Artillery.  He was killed in action on the 21st October 1916, aged 27 years.
