Son of Thomas Hussey and Sarah Hussey of The Rock, Wagga, NSW.

Brother of Charles Hussey who returned to Australia on 6 August 1915 having served in the 13th Battalion; Edward Hussey who returned to Australia on  6 December 1917 having served with the 8th Battalion; Thomas George Hussey who returned to Australia on 3 August 1919 having served with the 7th Light Horse Regiment

On 12 March 1918 he returned to Australia, first time, aboard HT Kenilworth Castle for approved leave. Later returning to England on 30 October 1918 

Commenced return to Australia, second time, on 8 January 1919 aboard HT Orsova disembarking on 20 February 1919

Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal. Croix de Guerre (Belgian)

Croix de Guerre award reads: In the line in front of Westhoeck Ridge taking charge of the ration parties to the front line showing great leadership and example to his men during continuous shelling.
