Private Arthur Harley Boulton (Service No:622) served four years with Senior Cadets before enlisting in the AIF on 29 November 1916, and was attached to 9 Machine Gun Coy on 21 June 1917 when he embarked with his Unit from Sydney for Liverpool on board HMAT A29 Suevic. Transferred to 33rd Infantry Battalion in August 1917, Private Boulton served on the Western Front, and was WiA in 1918 in France on two occasions - Gassed on 3 June, and severe GSW to both arms, shoulder and ankle on 25 August. Hospitalised in England, Private Boulton embarked for Sydney on 12 December 1918 on board HT Nestor, and was attached to 33rd Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 4 June 1919. Arthur served in the New Zeakand Army in WWII (Staff Sergeant; Service No:42629), and younger brothers (John and Albert) and son (John) served in the Australian Army in WWII. 

Arthur was born in Sydney, New South Wales in 1899, second of seven children of Arthur Edward Boulton (b1876 in Christchurch, New Zealand) and Evelyn (Eva) Mary Moroney (b1878 in Sydney, New South Wales). Arthur Snr (a Coach Trimmer) and Eva (a Domestic Servant) married in 1899 in Sydney, where they settled and raised their family and Arthur Snr was a Coach and Motor Trimmer.

Arthur was a Gas Fitter's Assistant in Sydney when he enlisted in the AIF in 1916, and following his Discharge, was a Coach Trimmer in Sydney in 1919 when he married his first wife Helen Young (b1900 in Midlothian, Scotland). Arthur and Helen settled in Sydney, where they raised their family and Arthur worked as a Coach Trimmer until 1924 when he moved to New Zealand. Helen remained in Sydney, where she worked as a Nurse. Arthur settled in Hamilton, New Zealand where he worked as a Coach Trimmer and Upholster, and in 1942 (following his Divorce in 1936) in Auckland remarried to Violet Margaret Parkes (b1912 in Auckland, New Zealand). Arthur and Violet settled in Taumananui, where they raised their family and Arthur was a Coach Trimmer and Upholsterer until retirement in the early 1960s. Arthur died in 1966 and Violet in 1967.
