Son of Alfred and Eliza Jarvis;

Brother of George Jarvis; Henry Thomas Jarvis who was killed in action on 4 September 1916 while serving with the 52nd Battalion, Roy William Jarvis MM who returned to Australia on 26 July 1919 having served with the Aust. Infantry Base Depot and  Alfred Edward Jarvis who returned to Australia on 27 August 1917 having served with the 52nd Battalion

Husband of Violet Vita Jarvis of Bellerive, Tas. Father of Sydney Alfred Ronald Jarvis, Sylvia Fay Thorne Jarvis and Athol Robert Thorne Jarvis. Pension for Violet and the children was origianally refused due to Tasman's body having not been found and therefore was deemed to be 'missing' not killed. It was eventually granted on 27 January 1916
