Son of Charles Orenshaw and Ellen Jane Orenshaw nee Atkinson of Seville, Victoria.

Brother of William Henry Orenshaw who died of wounds on 19 July 1916 while serving with the 59th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on Panel 15 of the V.C. Corner Australia Cemetery and Memorial

Commenced return to Australia on 23 May 1917 aboard HT Ayrshire disembarking on 17 July 1917
