According to the records of the National Australian Archives and the Australian War Memorial no person named J. Haddy, as listed on the Lobethal Memorial Roll served in World War One. There were two soldiers named Haddy that had connections with South Australia. The details of both have been included.
George left Adelaide on board the A 19 Afric on 9 June 1916 and from Southampton, England was sent to France with the 43rd Battalion on 25 November. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 21 January 1917. George was seriously wounded in the right thigh during action on 19 February and after receiving treatment at Boulogne was transferred to the 1st Southern General Hospital in England where his right leg was amputated on 14 March. He returned to Australia from England on A 19 Ulysses on 10 September and was discharged as medically unfit on 23 November.
