George Leslie NEWBERRY was born in Penge,London, England on 4th November, 1890

His parents were John James Hancock NEWBERRY & Amelia Emily BARNES who married in England in 1884

He enlisted on 5th April, 1916 and embarked from Sydney with the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade, 21st reinforcements on the HMAT Ascanius on 25th October, 1916 & returned to Australia on the ship Beltana on 2nd June 1919

He re-enlisted with the Army during WW2 on 23rd September, 1940 and was discharged on 7th October, 1944 as a Corporal with the 15th Garrison Battalion

George died in Queensland on 23rd October, 1968 and is buried at Mount Thompson Memorial Gardens & Crematorium
