Returned Veteran of The Great War, resting in unmarked grave at Sandgate Cemetery, will be officially commemorated with a Commonwealth War Graves Plaque, curbing and marble chip, his Honour and Dignity to be restored.
Private Leslie Havelock Henderson, 13th Battalion & 5th Australian Pioneer Battalion (Reg No-4515), labourer (sleeper cutter) from Boggabri, New South Wales and 50 Fern Street, Islington, N.S.W., laid to rest on the 5th May 1959, age 72. GENERAL-31. 68.
Wooden cross erected - 5.7.2020.
Wounded in action - 11.12.1916 (GSW face, jaw), returned home, invalided, June 1919.
Mr Henderson’s name has been inscribed on the Boggabri War Memorial.
