9 Mar 1916: Transferred AIF WW1, Private, 48th Infantry Battalion, Transferred from the 16th Battalion to the 48th Battalion
4 Aug 1916: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 3713, 48th Infantry Battalion, Battle for Pozières , On 4/8/1916, Private Alfred Charles Keays was admitted to the 1st Anzac Rest Station with a shrapnel wound to his ankle. He rejoined his unit on 12/8/1916.
12 Aug 1916: Involvement AIF WW1, Private, 3713, 48th Infantry Battalion, Battle for Pozières , The 48th Battalion suffered continuous enemy bombardment in "Sausage Valley" during the 13th and 14th of August, resulting in many casualties including Private Alfred Charles Keays, who was killed in action on 14/8/1916.

Son of Arthur Thomas Keays and Agnes Ann (nee Leslie) Keays of Sea View Road, Grange; brother of Henry Gordon Edward Keays, Ethel May Keays and George Herbert Keays

Advice has been received that Private Alfred C. Keays was killed in action in France on August 14. He was 31 years of age, and was the second son of  the late Mr. T. A Keays, of Magill, and Mrs. A. Keays, of Henley Beach. At the time of enlisting he was employed at the Petersburg Loco Department, where he  had been for a number of years. He left Australia on December 2, 1915.
